Sailing Master / Steward
The Woods Hole Yacht Club, Woods Hole, MA seeks a seasonal Sailing Master / Steward to oversee and manage the operations of the Woods Hole Yacht Club. Reporting to the Commodore of the Yacht Club, the Steward will be the face of the Club ensuring that members and guests are made to feel comfortable and safe in this casual organization focused on boating, sailboat racing and community.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience managing the operations of a small informal Club and experience around the water and boats. The individual will be an excellent communicator and be able to establish a warm and welcoming environment. They will be able to work well with people of all ages and be a positive face to the community. They will be self-directed and a self-starter and be comfortable taking direction from the Commodore. They will also be able to mentor and manage young adults. They must be well organized and be able to take care of simple accounting and bank deposits.
Requirements: At least a US Sailing level 1 Small boat instruction, driver’s license, no criminal convictions and pass a CORI background check.
Additional skills and experiences that are beneficial but not required include:
- Prior experience maintaining boats.
- Prior experience maintaining buildings and grounds.
- Prior experience teaching sailing.
- Prior experiencing racing sailboats.
- CPR certification.
- Boat operator’s license.
